BBC One Sherwood crime drama to get first look premiere at Nottingham's Broadway Cinema

The BBC is offering fans a sneak peak at the premiere for their latest crime drama 'Sherwood.' Inspired in part by real events, Sherwood sees two shocking and unexpected killings that shatter an already fractured community, sparking a massive manhunt.

The thriller features The Walking Dead star David Morrisey, Joanne Froggatt and Perry Fitzpatrick who will all be among the cast attending the exclusive screening on Monday, June 6, ahead of its broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Monday, June 13.

The event will take place at Broadway Cinema, Nottingham, and include a preview of the first episode of the six-part drama, followed by a Q&A session. Sherwood explores the controversial deployment of so-called ‘spy cops’ around Britain, whilst highlighting a distinctly human story of a community forced to re-examine the terrible events from decades ago.

The shows writer, James Graham, who grew up in Sherwood, said: “It is an honour to be able to create a drama for the people of my hometown. Although we have fictionalised the events and the characters you’ll see, it is largely inspired by a very real-life trauma that the people of Annesley and the surrounding villages experienced and spent time healing from.

"I am delighted and proud to bring it to the BBC.”

Stuart Thomas, Head of the Midlands for BBC England, said: “Sherwood is a gritty drama that I know will touch the hearts of the Nottingham people. We are proud to be able to deliver this to our local audiences, and are excited to hear from the panel.”
