BBC Breakfast took an unexpected turn when Carol Kirkwood brought everything to a screeching halt with a moment that had viewers spluttering into their morning brews. The much-loved weather presenter was joining hosts Jon Kay and Sally Nugent via video link for her usual forecast when things went slightly off-script.
It all started off innocently enough. Jon, clearly enjoying the bright mornings, said: “Carol, isn’t it wonderful this time of year when we’re up early but it’s daylight at 4 o’clock in the morning?” Carol, ever the ray of sunshine herself, replied cheerily: “Yes! We’re heading towards the longest day, the most daylight hours in a day, Jon, which is great news. After that, it’s downhill and we’re heading back towards Christmas!” Cue the record scratch. Christmas. In June, the Express reported.
