Despite his incredible success at the college level, Gonzaga’s Drew Timme did not hear his name called during Thursday night’s NBA draft. It didn’t take too long for him to find a professional hoops home, however.
Early Friday morning, Shams Charania reported that Timme is signing with the Bucks. As an undrafted free agent, there are certainly no guarantees for the three-time All-American, but Milwaukee makes for an intriguing landing spot for him if he manages to carve out a role with the team.
Timme has plenty of work to do, but could find himself playing alongside the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez in the frontcourt. Basketball fans who loved watching Timme lead Gonzaga over the last few seasons are excited about his opportunity.
Brook Lopez was a back to the basket big who made 3 threes his first 8 seasons and now consistently shoots 300+ threes a season at a 35 percent clip. Totally transformed his game while staying hyper efficient inside. Would be an awesome mentor for Timme if the Bucks re-sign him. https://t.co/1VeiySdpDT

I’m so excited for the Bucks two draft picks. Two super athletic dudes, especially Jackson since he’s supposed to be a fantastic defender.

Omari Moore looks like a steal for a 10 day guy, and signing Drew Timme to an exhibit 10 deal is hilarious. I cannot wait for summer league
Good grab for @Bucks on Timme. How does that guy not get drafted last night? 21 & 7 for Zaga and goes undrafted! Crazy...#NBATwitter #NBA #NBADraft2023

This is one of the spots I thought would be a good fit for Timme. That said the Bucks are in a bit of flux.

New head coach, uncertainty about Middleton and Lopez. We’ll see how it goes. https://t.co/nC1ZcNGl8S
Timme can definitely make it.

Bobby Portis- Kevin Love- Grant Williams all feet stay on the floor.
Play enough defense and make jump shots.
BUCKS HAVE A GOOD PLAYER https://t.co/KNO1oAqaYu
Timme’s athleticism is a question mark as he enters the pros, but as he showed at Gonzaga, he’s an extremely skilled post player and a proven winner.
If nothing else, he’ll have plenty of Bulldogs fans and other college hoops diehards rooting for him as he attempts to break onto Milwaukee’s roster.
