"I knew though, growing up with the distraction side of things and zoning in."
He explained that when he was younger, he struggled with sitting still, would get easily distracted and was unable to focus on some things for a certain amount of time.
The two went on to talk about the importance of nurturing children's talents and interests from a young age, whether that be acting, art or music.
Barry said: "I agree with getting all the basics done; the basic science, it’s good to have a knowledge of all of that of course."
Later in the episode, Amy applauded Barry and his fellow Summerhill native Kellie Harrington for their sense of "gratitude, honesty and openness" which sparked Barry to talk about Irish people's attitudes towards success.
Speaking about the "impostor syndrome" he sometimes feels, Barry said: "I think a lot more people would have gotten a lot more success if that attitude wasn’t there.
"I don't agree with being arrogant. I’d get the head slapped off me if I ever tried that. I’d be pulled right back down to gravity. I do agree with having some sort of confidence.
"When I was first getting into acting, my friends took the p*** but they were very supportive."
