Barcelona 'could use' talented defender in deal to sign Leeds United's Raphinha

Barcelona could reportedly include centre back Oscar Mingueza in a deal with Leeds United as a way of reducing the fee for Raphinha. The Catalan outfit are hot on the trail of the Brazilian and his agent Deco, who is also Barcelona’s chief scout for South America, is understood to be in advanced talks over personal terms for his client, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Leeds are said to have set a £62 million asking price for Raphinha, which at this stage appears to be out of Barcelona’s price range, given that they reportedly submitted a first offer of just £29 million. Given that they are still under financial scrutiny, they may have to use other ways in order to get the man they want.

According to Diario Sport, Mingueza could be the player they look to use to tempt Leeds in to selling Raphinha for less, by allowing the Whites to sign him on loan. The 22-year-old has found game time at the Camp Nou hard to come by in recent months following the form of the likes of Gerard Pique, Ronald Araujo and Eric Garcia.
