Bangladesh has now recorded 999 suspected and confirmed measles-related deaths since March, most of them young children, in what a Reuters report describes as the world's largest measles outbreak. Only 100 of those deaths have been confirmed by laboratory testing. The rest are classified as suspected, based on symptoms and circumstances.
The crisis is unfolding as the United States logs its worst measles year in more than three decades. The CDC measles tracker counted 3,134 confirmed U.S. cases as of Sept. 3 across 47 jurisdictions, far above the 2,289 cases reported for all of 2025.
