'Bang in trouble' - Nottingham Forest sent worrying message following Tottenham defeat

Nottingham Forest supporters are becoming increasingly worried about the possibility of getting relegated after losing 3-1 to Tottenham at the London Stadium.

The hosts thought they had gotten off to the perfect start when Richarlison scored inside the first three minutes, but it was chalked off for offside by the VAR. It was a let off for the Reds, but Harry Kane didn't take long to break their resolve, scoring in the 19th minute.

The striker was then handed the perfect opportunity to grab a brace after Joe Worrall fouled Richarlison in the box. He rarely misses from 12 yards out, as was the case here.

Spurs had the three points all sewn up after an hour when Son Heung-min scored his sixth Premier League goal of the season. Joe Worrall headed in with ten minutes left on the clock to give the visitors a glimmer of hope.

Forest were given an opportunity to reduce the arrears to one in injury time when Dejan Kulusevski was penalised for a handball in the box. Andre Ayew failed to convert it however, confirming their ninth defeat on the road this season.

After the final whistle fans took to Twitter to express their frustration and disappointment with the result. Here is what some of them had to say:

Adam Bradbury: We look very poor at the moment and all the teams around us are picking up points. We are bang in trouble.

Caz: Bournemouth, Everton & Leeds all gain points on us. After our next two games & defeats, we'll be in the bottom three where we belong... and we ain't getting out.

Peter Walker: We set out to defend and apparently hit on the break. It hasn't worked all season, so not sure what Cooper is doing #NFFC. We'll be right back in the relegation mix at this rate.

Jason Andrews: Give away a penalty, miss a penalty, another dent in the goal difference and don’t start playing until the second half, you couldn’t make this up.

Sam: I don't expect to come to places like this and win but my god, the way in which we just roll over is embarrassing. Joe Worrall isn't a Premier League quality CB either. No room for sentiment at this level whatsoever.

Lollehpalooza: Worrall will always be a Reds legend but the timing of that tackle was pure Sunday league.

Ste Roll: Better in second half but game already won by Spurs. This away form is atrocious! Can't excuse a player missing a penalty, should never happen. Need to start winning as soon as possible!

Wiklo: Honestly, this performance is not only on the players but Cooper too. Set up to lose to a Spurs side currently playing walking football. This unacceptable. 10 yards off them and may as well just sit on the edge of our box. No desire or attempt to make it difficult.

Kieran: Why did we sign Ayew? Other than to stop him going to Everton?

Gary Page: I thought Ayew was a shocking signing, even for a free transfer. He's somehow worse than I'd expected.

Hannah Forest: I think if we go down we need a new manager as well. Cooper needs a fresh start and so do the players.
