Frankie Musonda reckons Ayr have proven they can stand up and be counted when it matters.
The defender's first goal for United earned a point against Morton on Saturday - meaning the Honest Men have gone unbeaten against Ton in five attempts this season.
And Musonda believes that kind of record shows Ayr are made of the right stuff ahead of the promotion run-in.
He said: "Not many teams - if any - will have done that against Morton this season.
""That's testament to our ability to stand up against them and do the ugly side when we need to.
"Ultimately it was a point gained for us on Saturday and the most important thing was not to lose the game.
"Getting my first goal for the club was great and it was nice that meant a lot as well in such a big game.
"To go behind like we did really flattened the place but we kept going and got the goal we deserved."
Musonda, whose stock is continuing to rise off the back of a recent trip away with the Zambian national side, added: "It was a point gained and the most important thing was not to lose the game.
"We go to Partick next week and it's another six pointer now. Every game is massive.
"It's just a case of taking one game at a time and all we can do is focus on Saturday now."
