Aurelien Tchouameni opens the door for Liverpool transfer with latest update

Aurelien Tchouameni insists he has not decided where his future lies despite reportedly 'agreeing' to join Real Madrid.

The 22-year-old is one of Europe's brightest young talents and has been linked with a move away from Monaco this summer with Los Blancos and Liverpool interested. Last month, RMC reported that Tchouameni has decided to sign for Real instead for a fee in the region of £67milion.

They added that the France international had agreed to sign for the Spanish giants on a five-year deal. Tchouameni has made 95 appearances for Monaco since joining from Bordeaux in 2019, scoring eight times. His form for the Ligue 1 outfit has earned him multiple caps for his country.

However, Tchouameni has now revealed he does not know where he will be playing his football next season amid Real Madrid agreement and Liverpool interest. He told Téléfoot that he 'has not decided' his future yet.

"That doesn't worry me, because it's a position I always wanted to be in. As long as the best clubs follow me, that means I'm doing good things," he said.

When asked directly about whether he has made his mind up about his future, Tchouameni added: "Not yet".

Jurgen Klopp is keen on signing the midfielder with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain set to leave the club this summer, while James Milner and Jordan Henderson are both coming towards the latter stages of their career. Thiago and Naby Keita were immense last term, with Fabinho often playing in the deeper role.

A natural No.8, Tchouameni also has the ability to play anywhere across the midfield which would suit Klopp's 4-3-3 flexible approach where he two more advanced players often rotate. Thiago and Henderson did that effectively throughout the majority of the season, and Tchouameni would provide healthy competition for the pair.

Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell has also previously spoke about Tchouameni's future. When asked about whether he would prefer to sell him to Liverpool or Los Blancos, Mitchell said: "I don't have a preference to be honest! As always when you sell a player, there needs to be fair compensation. The market is different every year.

"Everyone was able to see what a top player Aurelien is, but everyone also knows that we are an ambitious club with an ambitious shareholder. So no, I have no preference when it comes to selling him. We will have to be very aggressive in terms of the fee we demand to lose such an incredibly gifted player."
