Athletics season to begin with Indian Open Throws event in Delhi on Feb 26

NEW DELHI: The domestic athletics season will begin with the inaugural Indian Open Throws competition here on February 26 while the first National Javelin Day events will be held on August 7 in all the states to mark Neeraj Chopra's Olympic gold medal-winning feat.

Star javelin thrower Chopra had clinched the country's first Olympic gold in athletics in Tokyo Games on August 7 last year and the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) had earlier said that national javelin day will be observed to mark the feat.
