Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag lead scriptwriter Darby McDevitt has teased some new scenes in the upcoming remake, Black Flag Resynced.
Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced may have been the "worst-kept secret" in games for well over a year, but finally, the "rebuilt from the ground up" remake of one of the best Assassin's Creed games has officially been announced and will be released in July. But, despite feeling like it at times, it turns out we actually don't know everything that the upcoming remake has to offer.
McDevitt – who was lead scriptwriter on the original Black Flag and Revelations (as well as writer on Valhalla, Unity, and Origins) – reveals on the Access the Animus Discord (via TheHiddenOneAC on Twitter) that for Resynced, "I wrote two new scenes and amended one in the main story."
Not only that, McDevitt notes that with the new scenes, "One of them is now a top five favorite scene for me in" Black Flag, and says "I hope y'all love it." He also explains, "You'll wonder why it was never in there to begin with. And that's because I didn't conceive of it until recently!"
Of course, new scenes and plot additions in remakes are a dangerous game at times, as one wrong narrative choice can completely reframe an entire story. However, if there's one person who should be making decisions like this, it's probably someone who also wrote the original version of the game.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced parkour "builds on" improvements from Shadows and Valhalla.
