A decision to cover up a stained glass artwork at Newport Market has been branded an "insult" by the artist behind it. The artwork can be found in the newly-refurbished Newport Market, which reopened to much acclaim in March.
Now, councillors have approved a planning application to cover the existing art with a cream banner, which will be used to project adverts and cinematography. The decision was made at a Newport City Council planning committee meeting.
Despite concerns raised by councillors, the changes will now go ahead, and the artwork will become covered. Artist Catrin Jones has criticised the decision.
