Arsenal will 'submit' transfer offer for £72m Juventus star Lionel Messi has previously praised

Arsenal have revived their interest in Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo if recent reports are to be believed.

The Gunners were keen on signing Arthur back in January on loan as football.london reported at the time. However, a move eventually failed to materialise and technical director Edu has since recruited Portuguese playmaker Fabio Vieira to the club during this summer's transfer window.

Still, Italian football reporter Marcello Chirico has claimed that Mikel Arteta's side are still keen on the former Barcelona maestro and will soon submit an offer to Juventus for his services, a move that the player is said to welcome.

If Arthur, who cost the Turin-based club £72 million back in 2020, were to arrive at the Emirates Stadium, the north Londoners would be getting a top quality player if footballing icon Lionel Messi's opinion is anything to go by.

Speaking back in 2018 to Tot Costa, via Sport, Messi lauded his former teammate's ability, admitting he was surprised how good the diminutive midfielder was. “Those who came are very good", the Argentine international said when discussing Barcelona's transfer business at the time.

"Arthur I didn’t know that much about but he seems similar to Xavi. He’s very safe and trustworthy. He has the La Masia style. Playing short passes, without losing the ball, and he grasped it quickly, the dynamic of the team.”
