Arsenal player ratings vs Man United as Martinelli good but Gabriel and Lokonga make errors

Aaron Ramsdale: A little loose with a few passes, but then again superb with some others. Didn't actually have too many saves to make but was OK when called upon. 6.

Ben White: Did his best to cover back when Arsenal's high line was exposed in the second half but couldn't do enough. Defensively decent but struggled to add much to the attack. 6.

William Saliba: When one-vs-one the Frenchman did well to stop the United attackers on occasion but struggled as the high line was picked off at will in the second half. 6.

Gabriel: At fault for the first goal where he overcommitted, but showed some decent one-vs-one moments after. Struggled with Arsenal's high line in the second half. 6.

Oleksandr Zinchenko: Offered Arsenal more technical security when brought into the side and the Gunners did look a threat because of that. Not enough of an impact to help win the game though. 6.

Albert Sambi Lokonga: Out of position for the first goal and maybe poor in giving it away in the build-up to the second. Some very good passing at times though and might have had an assist were it not for VAR. 6.

Granit Xhaka: Not quite at his free attacking best, but did generally do well in the midfield. When the game got stretched in the second half though he struggled to help Arsenal regain control. 6.

Martin Odegaard: Not the Norwegian's best game. His passing was off at times and his set piece delivery was poor. Did pop up with the ball that essentially created Saka's goal though. 6.

Bukayo Saka: Had a relatively quiet first half but stepped it up in the second. Really needed his goal and will be glad to be off the mark for the season. Got frustrated towards the end though. 7.

Gabriel Jesus: Caused United all manner of problems with his high pressing and intensity. A few very unlucky moments in front of goal. 7.

Gabriel Martinelli: Arsenal's most consistent threat down the left. Unlucky to see his goal ruled out and Dalot did struggle to deal with the Brazilian. 7.

Substitutes -

Fabio Vieira: A promising senior debut cameo from the Portuguese. One really nice ball into Gabriel Jesus. 7.

Eddie Nketiah: Denied what looked like a decent penalty shout. Didn't do much other than that as the game was more or less done almost straight after he came on. 6.

Emile Smith Rowe: Relatively anonymous after coming on. Needs to do more if he's to regain his starting spot. 6.

Takehiro Tomiyasu: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.
