Arsenal news: Bukayo Saka's contract demand as Gunners star 'open' to exit

Bukayo Saka will reportedly factor in the likelihood of playing Champions League football before signing a new contract with the Gunners.

The England international has become a key figure for Mikel Arteta's side this season and has so far registered six goals and four assists in 21 matches.

But he is yet to be given a place at the Gunners' top table when it comes to earnings, with recent reports suggesting he could leave the club.

It comes as another Arsenal star who has become embroiled in a transfer saga is said to be 'open' to leaving the club.

And Mikel Arteta has called for a change in culture at the club after ill-discipline has cost his side on several occasions this season.

Arteta's disciplinary outrage

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta wants to overhaul the culture within the club to cut down on his players' poor discipline.

In all competitions, the Gunners have had 14 players sent off during Arteta's time at the helm – six more than their nearest Premier League rivals, Southampton, during the same period.

And Arteta has now hit out at the poor discipline which has blighted his side – and says the club must improve its recruitment to stop the problem from occurring.

There are at least four culprits with questionable disciplinary records who could therefore be ousted from Arteta's squad this summer.

Xhaka 'open' to switch

Ex-Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka is reportedly 'open' to making a summer transfer move to Jose Mourinho's Roma.

The Swiss midfielder had appeared set to make the switch to the Serie A side last summer but the move never materialised.

But recent reports have suggested Roma could come back in for the midfielder during the next transfer window.

And the Swiss midfielder may not be the only high-profile player to depart the Emirates Stadium this summer, with Arteta ready to sign off on a transfer exodus.

Saka's contract demand

Young Gunners forward Bukayo Saka wants to be playing regular Champions League football in order to commit his future to the club, it is claimed.

Saka has enjoyed a rapid rise at Arsenal and has become a key figure in the starting XI under Mikel Arteta.

But his fine form has alerted Premier League rivals Liverpool to his talents, with the Reds said to be considering making an offer for the England star.

With Saka currently pocketing around £35,000-a-week, Arsenal are keen to tie him down to a longer deal on improved terms but may not be able to meet his one big demand.
