Arsenal face competition from Man Utd and two more teams for Cody Gakpo as rivals 'make offer'

Arsenal are one of four Premier League sides to have serious interest in PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo with two more rivals upping their approach for the 23-year-old.

The Gunners had wanted to make former-Leeds winger Raphinha their statement signing of the summer but have been forced to look elsewhere with Gakpo also on their radar. With Manchester United also believed to hold interest in last season's Dutch footballer of the year, there is competition for Arsenal to fight off.

Mikel Arteta's side still managed to look impressive with a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace without Gakpo. But with only three recognised first-team wingers, adding depth to that area of the pitch has become a key target for Edu, who is still looking for a 'mystery winger'.

Alongside Erik ten Hag's United side, there are now more teams involved in the chase to secure Gakpo, with Nottingham Forest reportedly making progress with an offer of their own, whilst the Dutch international remains an option for Leeds to replace Raphinha with.

There is also interest in Pedro Neto from Wolves, who have made their own moves to bring in a replacement for the Portuguese star and could be forced to sell their winger for the right price. Meanwhile, there is long-standing admiration for Moussa Diaby as well. Gakpo appears to be still very much on the list for Arsenal, though, but they could be pushed for a move.

According to Santi Aouna from French publication FootMercato, newly promoted Forest have put their bid forward with football.london understanding that around £30m could be enough for the player with 25 goal contributions from last season.

It was reported earlier this summer that the deal was one to look out for as the Gunners remained in contact with PSV throughout the window. Though nothing concrete appears to have been done in the deal, this move could kickstart Arsenal's actions.
