An armed robber descended on a suburban Post Office in broad daylight before pointing a 'gun' towards staff. Greater Manchester Police is investigating an armed robbery at the Post Office on Finney Lane, in Heald Green, Stockport.
Officers were called out to the scene shortly after 1pm yesterday (December 17). Following initial enquiries, GMP's Stockport CID says the offender pointed what is thought to be a firearm at staff, before a number of stamps and a significant amount of cash were stolen.
Detectives are now appealing for information about the incident. Police are particularly keen to track down two men who were wearing high-vis jackets at the time of the armed robbery, who could help GMP with the investigation.
Detective Sergeant Stephen Hartley said: “Thankfully no one was physically injured during the incident but understandably staff were shaken up by the ordeal. We’re wanting to identify two men who may be able to assist with our enquiries who were dressed in high-vis orange short sleeve jackets.
“No arrests have been made and extensive work is being done by investigators who are trawling CCTV and speaking to witnesses.” Anyone with CCTV, mobile or dashcam footage from the area at around the time of the incident - or any information that could aid the investigation - is asked to call GMP on 0161 856 9821.
Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
