Pictures show the moment armed police surrounded a number of men on a street.
Officers from Merseyside Police were called on Tuesday, October 4 at around 5.20pm on New Hey Road in Woodchurch. A person in the area called 999 to say they two men acting suspiciously in the area.
Photos taken by an eyewitness appear to show two men in dark clothing lying on the floor. One armed officer appears to be kneeling next to one of the men.

Four armed police officers can be seen surrounding the other men. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed four men were arrested on suspicion of possession of a gun.
They were taken to custody where they were questioned by officers. A spokesperson for the force said on Tuesday: "There is no evidence at this stage that a firearm has been discharged or anyone has been injured and no firearms have been recovered.
"Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing and house-to-house and CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the local area. A search of a neighbouring property is also being carried out."
Other pictures seen by the ECHO show a large police presence on New Hey Road, including vans, patrol cars and Matrix vehicles. One eyewitness said they also saw officers "pointing guns into a car" on Houghton Road, just a short drive away.
A police helicopter was also seen circling the area for a number of hours.
