Argos and Wilko shoppers rush to buy £30 item after Martin Lewis advice

Shoppers are rushing to get their hands on a heater after Martin Lewis recommended them as a cheaper way to warm homes this winter.

Wilko's £30 halogen heater has been so popular it has sold out, though it is available for £40 at Argos. The Beldray 1.2kW Halogen Heater has racked up thousands of glowing five-star reviews online from shoppers who say it keeps them warm while only costing pennies to run.

Some happy customers have said it costs 7p an hour to have on, a considerable saving compared to putting the central heating on.

It comes after Martin Lewis recommended halogen heaters earlier this year. Martin Lewis' MSE team went on to explain: "Halogen heaters are directional. Once on, you instantly feel the heat. As soon as you turn them off, the heat quickly dissipates."

While Martin Lewis nor MSE have suggested any specific brands to buy, Beldray 1.2kW Halogen Heater is a firm favourite with shoppers looking for a budget buy that works effectively, the MEN reports.

On the Wilko website, the £30 heater has received a number of glowing reviews. One person said: "My wife required a little extra heating whilst watching TV - so, a few weeks ago, I ordered a Beldray heater online and collected it the next next morning. It could not have been more simple and straight forward - thankfully, my wife is delighted with it. Moreover, it avoids having to use the more-expensive gas fire -- it directs the warmth straight onto her."

Another said: "I bought this heater as I didn’t want to heat the whole house when I’m working from home in 1 room, it’s ideal for heating only where is needed."

The Beldray 1.2kW Halogen Heater is currently out of stock on the Wilko website, but if you don't mind splashing out an extra tenner for it on the Argos website, you can buy it for £40 here.
