FiReSPORTS confirms 2027 Major in Argentina

Rodrigo Figueroa Reyes, founder and CEO of FiReSPORTS, confirmed the news to HLTV in a comment, expressing enthusiasm about bringing Counter-Strike 2‘s biggest tournament to South America.

“We’re very excited to host the first Major in the history of our country,” said Figueroa Reyes. “Fans will be delighted to come to a city like Buenos Aires, a city that blends European and Latin American influences, where they will be surprised by the passion of Counter-Strike fans in Argentina. We are going to give it our all to make this a great Major.”

The Buenos Aires Major marks a continuation of the expansion of Counter-Strike across global regions. After Shanghai 2024 and Austin 2025, Buenos Aires will mark the first Major on South American soil since IEM Rio Major in 2022. Valve’s push for globalization of Counter-Strike is a commendable effort to bring a classically European esport to new frontiers.

Perfect World Shanghai returns to the calendar as 2027 Winter Major

According to the same report, Perfect World will host the second CS2 Major of 2027 in Shanghai. The return to Shanghai comes after the highly touted 2024 Major, which was voted Event of the Year at the 2024 HLTV Awards. The Chinese tournament organizer’s proven track record in delivering world-class Counter-Strike events makes it a natural choice for the year’s second Major. The decision to return to Shanghai will also ensure that the Counter-Strike circuit travels to Asia for a third year in a row, much to the delight of that passionate fanbase.

The 2027 Majors follow Valve’s ambitious expansion of the Counter-Strike circuit. The IEM Cologne 2026 Major and PGL’s Singapore Major will precede the Buenos Aires and Shanghai events, with Singapore marking another historic first as Southeast Asia’s inaugural Major host. Reportedly, the two Majors of 2028 have also been decided, with ESL and BLAST winning those bids.

The confirmation of Buenos Aires and Shanghai as 2027 Major hosts underscores Valve’s commitment to growing Counter-Strike 2‘s competitive footprint. With four Majors now planned across 2026 to 2027 spanning Europe, Asia, Southeast Asia, and South America, the game’s premier tournaments are reaching more regions and fans than ever before.
