Rangers striker Antonio Colak has been overlooked by Croatia for their final World Cup squad.
It means he'll stay at home while his Ibrox teammate Borna Barisic and Celtic right-back Josip Juranovic fly out to Qatar with their country. Colak's impressive form at club level had initially been recognised by Zlatko Dalic when he was named in the provisional 34-man group. He has 14 goals in 23 appearances since joining Gers in the summer, muscling past the out-of-favour Alfredo Morelos to become Gio van Bronckhorst's main striker.
But with Andrej Kramaric, Bruno Petkovic, Ante Budmir and Marko Livaja all available for Qatar, competition up front for Croatia is tough. And it's Rangers striker Colak who suffers heartbreak as he was one of the eight players cut to make the final 26-man group that will fly out for their opener with Saudi Arabia in one week's time.
His club teammate Barisic was picked as expected while Celtic star Juranovic also makes the cut despite not playing a league game for Ange Postecoglou since early October. He did however feature against Real Madrid last week and could be involved on Wednesday night against Motherwell.
