Angelina Jolie and her daughter Vivienne recently made a special appearance at a performance of the new Broadway musical, The Outsiders. The mother-daughter duo posed backstage with the cast of the show, as they are also co-producers of the production. The musical, currently in previews at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre in New York City, is based on S.E. Hinton's iconic novel from 1967.
The Outsiders follows the story of teenager Ponyboy Curtis and his group of friends known as the 'greasers,' who find themselves in conflict with the rival group, the 'Socs.' The novel was previously adapted into a movie in 1983 by director Francis Ford Coppola, featuring a star-studded cast including Tom Cruise, Rob Lowe, and Patrick Swayze.
Several original cast members, such as Matt Dillon and Rob Lowe, have shown support for the Broadway production. Dillon, who played Dallas Winston in the film, attended a preview alongside Jolie and Vivienne. Lowe, who portrayed Sodapop Curtis, expressed his excitement for the musical adaptation, hoping for its success.
The musical is written by Adam Rapp and Justin Levine, with music and lyrics by Jamestown Revival. The live production stars actors Brody Grant, Sky Lakota-Lynch, and others. After a series of previews, the show is set to officially open on April 11, marking Jolie and Vivienne's debut on Broadway.
Angelina Jolie, a renowned actress and producer, shares Vivienne with her ex-husband Brad Pitt, along with their other children Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and Knox. Jolie and Pitt separated in 2016 and have since been involved in a custody battle for their minor children. Despite the challenges, Jolie remains dedicated to her children's well-being, as described by her father Jon Voight.
