Ange Postecoglou’s agent has been pushing his case at Tottenham Hotspur for MONTHS, according to a report in Australia.
The Celtic boss is on the verge of a switch to north London with his two successful years at Celtic nearing an end. The 57-year-old moved up the pecking order on Daniel Levy’s managerial wanted list as he failed to land some top targets, including Feyenoord boss Arne Slot. And now The Sydney Morning Herald claim that Postecoglou’s representative Frank Trimboli, pictured embracing Postecoglou during the recent Trophy Day celebrations against Aberdeen, has been working away in the background for some time now over a move to the English Premier League for his client.
They wrote: “(Daniel) Levy is why this position is viewed as a poisoned chalice, although none of this will be lost on Postecoglou, a student of the game and a voracious consumer of football around the world. His agent, London-based Aussie Frank Trimboli, knows Levy well and has been pushing Postecoglou’s case for months behind the scenes.
“Postecoglou is expected to be confirmed as early as this week as Tottenham’s new manager. The deal is all but done, according to scores of reports from overseas and by sources contacted by this masthead, and an official announcement is imminent.
"It will be a new high watermark for Australian football, to have a head coach working not only in the English Premier League, but at one of the competition’s biggest clubs - as it will be for the 57-year-old himself, who has always had the hunger to test his wits at the highest level possible, stretching as far back as his days as a junior at his boyhood club from South Melbourne.”
That news might come as a surprise to a section of the Celtic support. Some are now becoming sceptical given how quickly things have moved in a switch that had seemingly only developed recently.
