He scored the most famous penalty kick Somerset Park has ever seen.
Now Andy Walker is ready to walk down memory lane on the eve of Ayrshire derby night.
Walker, now a Sky Sports commentator and pundit, spent a hugely successful year as an Ayr United player in season 98-99.
The highlight of his short stay being a chipped spot kick that beat Gordon Marshall all ends up as Ayr beat Kilmarnock 3-0 in the Scottish Cup.
Walker later told how his sublime finish was inspired by Dwight Yorke scoring for Aston Villa against Sheffield United with a similar effort.
He revealed: “I had seen Simon Donnelly do it against Marsh at training when we were all team-mates at Celtic. It caused a great deal of hilarity at the time.
“However, it’s quite bizarre because I had no intention of doing it in the cup tie.
"I had already scored with my first penalty and it was only at the last moment that I got the idea to emulate Dwight.
"It all happened in the space of two or three seconds.
“I decided I didn’t want to blast it and then the idea popped into my mind.
"It’s something I would have loved to have done in an Old Firm game but never got the opportunity.”
Walker will relive his magical performance at a special night in Cameron's Bar next Thursday from 7pm.
It comes just 24 hours ahead of the latest Ayrshire derby at Somerset, live on BBC Scotland.
United commercial boss, Martin Tocker, said: "We really appreciate Andy offering to give up his time to come along and do this.
"All Ayr fans of a certain generation fondly recall that penalty and it has become an iconic moment and image.
"It will be fantastic to hear from Andy about the game in question, his memories of his time at Ayr and indeed his career in general."
Tickets for the event are priced £20 and are available HERE.
