Angered over denial of a Ministerial berth to Government Whip and Rayadurg MLA Kapu Ramachandra Reddy in the recent Andhra Pradesh Cabinet reshuffle, his supporters and YSRCP workers held a rasta roko for about an hour on National Highway- 275 on the outskirts of Rayadurg on Wednesday.
At the Obulapuram checkpost on the highway, the workers held up the traffic demanding an apt position for Mr. Ramachandra Reddy, if not a Ministerial post, and asked the MLA to put in his papers if he is denied even that honour.
“He should put in his papers and not take any disrespect,” they shouted. The police, however, arrested some of the party workers and dispersed the agitating crowd after some time, and restored traffic on the National Highway.
Meanwhile, Telugu Desam Party politburo member and former Minister Kalava Srinivasulu took strong objection to the party workers staging a rasta roko just because Mr. Ramachandra Reddy was denied a Cabinet berth. The YSRCP workers must agitate in front of the Chief Minister’s house, but not cause inconvenience to the general public who had voted for Mr. Ramachandra Reddy, he added.
