Andhra Pradesh: creation of new districts is a revolutionary decision, say YSRCP leaders

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders hailed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for carving 13 new districts, dubbing it as a ‘revolutionary decision’ that was aimed at bringing the administration closer to people and delivering better governance.

Addressing separate press conferences on Monday, YSRCP leaders described creation of new districts as a milestone in the history of Andhra Pradesh. They came down heavily on the opposition parties accusing the latter of giving ‘cheap remarks’ on the reorganisation of districts.

The YSRCP leaders said neither could TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu nor Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan ever think of such initiative. The opposition party leaders were spreading ‘malicious propaganda’ to mislead the public., they alleged.

Claiming that that Mr. Kalyan was playing to the tunes of Mr. Naidu, the ruling party leaders sought to know why the Jana Sena chief remained silent when the notification for new districts was issued.

Transport Minister Perni Venkataramaiah accused Mr. Naidu of failing miserably in creating new districts. “Mr. Pawan Kalyan and all the Left party leaders are enacting the script written by Mr. Naidu,” he said.

Refuting the opposition parties’ allegations that the new districts were formed unscientifically as part of a politically-motivated move, YSRCP leader G. Srikanth Reddy said the new districts were creating after a detailed study on administration and effective implementation of welfare schemes and policies.

Meanwhile, YSRCP MLA Gudivada Amarnath said that the TDP president must answer that what he had done for the North Andhra region, especially for tribal areas.

“The YSRCP government has taken care to ensure development of tribal areas on par with other districts and brining the backward regions to the path of development,” he said.
