VIJAYAWADA: Prakasam police arrested all the three accused in the murder of Nallaguntla village sarpanch’s husband Moddu Venkateshwarlu, on Sunday.
The accused are Bairaboina Vekateswarlu (36), Kotakonda Anji (20, and Kodi Mohan (37).
According to police, Venkateshwarlu and Moddu Venkateshwarlu were close relatives and active members of the ruling party for 8 years. During the panchayat election in February last, the wife of M Venkateshwarlu contested as sarpanch candidate on YSRC ticket. Meanwhile, Malleswary, wife of accused B Venkateswarlu, contested as YSRC rebel candidate. Wife of M Venkateshwarlu won the election and ever since then, the two families were on a collision course. Two months after polls, both the families lodged cases against each other .
B Venkateshwarlu decided to kill M Venkateshwarlu after this incident. On February 9, the accused noticed that M Venkateshwarlu was travelling alone on a motorcycle towards Nallaguntla. When he reached Korraprolu village, the accused hacked him with a knife on his head, resulting in his instant death.
