We’ve had a lot of bad things to say about the MLB umps this season because a lot of them have been really bad at their jobs.
An umpire played a big role in Saturday night’s game in San Diego but he wasn’t really to blame because all this happened so quickly.
Here was the situation: The Padres trailed the Minnesota Twins by a run in the seventh inning. Jurickson Profar hit hard line drive that would have likely gone into the gap in right center and tied the game up. I say would have because the ball hit the ump near second base and no runs were scored.

The Padres ended up not scoring a run in that inning and then gave up five runs in the top of the 8th and lost the game 7-4. Gotta think things might have gone a little differently if that ball didn’t hit the ump.
