American Idol's Ryan Seacrest throws shade at Lionel Richie over 'special treatment' claims

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest made a subtle dig at Lionel Richie as he toured the show set.

Earlier this month, Lionel called out bosses over their "special treatment" of Ryan after it was revealed that he was given a bicycle to get around on set with.

He shared a snap with Ryan's bike on Instagram and caption the post: "The stage is only 20ft away, and @ryanseacrest has a bike !! Production - I need a bike too!! #idol."

Ryan defended himself in the comments at the time, writing: "Listen, 20ft is far for short legs!"

As he explored the backstage of the popular talent show, Ryan hit back at Lionel's claims in a cheeky clip that he shared online. In the video he's seen going over notes with producers and chatting with contestants.

The host then hopped on the bicycle that Lionel had called him out for using but this time added a personalized "SEACREST" license plate.

He then said to camera: "Hope you enjoyed the tour, see you guys!"

"Seacrest out!" Ryan added.

Ryan has also come under fire from fans who accused the presenter of being "nasty" and "too harsh" with contestants, but the host clapped back at the fans.

Ryan added the caption: "Can you tell I’m excited that American Idol is live again? Tune in now!"

He seemed unbothered by the fans who had begged him to "quit" American Idol just hours earlier.

"Ryan not softening any blows lmao," one fan wrote after Ryan told one competitor: "You sang lose you to love me. We might lose you tonight," which some thought was a "brutal" thing to say.

"Ryan, come ON. Be more clear when you’re crushing these people," another put.

However, earlier on in the episode, Ryan made it clear that he wasn't going to "sugarcoat" anything for the hopefuls.
