Alleged Meat in Vegetarian Thali Sparks Police Probe in Lucknow

According to a report by NDTV, the incident took place at House of Royals. Hemant Kumar Singh, who had traveled from Prayagraj along with a group of 14 others, stopped at the restaurant for lunch. The group ordered the restaurant’s “Deluxe Veg” thali, expecting a strictly vegetarian meal.

Unexpected Discovery

The situation took a shocking turn when the food was served. While eating, the diners reportedly noticed something unusual in one of the plates. They alleged that the thali contained a piece of meat along with a small bone, despite being ordered as vegetarian.

The discovery left the group deeply disturbed, especially as they had chosen vegetarian food due to personal and religious beliefs.

Complaint Against Restaurant

The diners immediately brought the issue to the attention of the restaurant staff. However, they later claimed that their concerns were not handled seriously, which further heightened their dissatisfaction and frustration.

FIR Filed, Investigation Underway

Following the incident, the matter was reported to the authorities. As per NDTV, the police have now registered an FIR and initiated an investigation to determine what led to the alleged mix-up.

Renewed Concerns Over Food Safety

This incident has once again highlighted concerns around food handling practices in restaurants, particularly regarding the separation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items.

For many individuals, vegetarian food is closely tied to cultural and religious values. Even minor lapses can therefore lead to significant distress. The case underscores the importance of strict kitchen protocols and careful food preparation to ensure customer trust and respect for dietary preferences.
