In life sim games, there must also be death to balance out the experience, and Paralives has quite a few ways for your Paras to meet an untimely end. If you’re curious what might trigger the end of a Paras life, you’ll want to know all available death types.
Whether you’re trying to make a death happen to move a storyline along, or want to be aware of what aspects you should avoid to keep your Paras safe, having an idea of which situations can be deadly is essential. Here are all of the death types you can encounter in Paralives.

All deaths in Paralives
There are five death types in Paralives so far. This number will likely be expanded upon in future updates since this game is in early access, but for now, there are only a couple of ways your Paras are at risk of running into death. These death types include:
- Starvation
- Exhaustion
- Fire
- Old age
- Mushroom poisoning
Death by starvation in Paralives
For death by starvation, your Para needs to not eat anything for an extended period of time. The hunger bar must reach the lowest level, which is just one bar, and stay like this until your Para eventually succumbs to death by hunger. You’ll know you’re on the right track if the hunger meter is in the red.
Death by exhaustion in Paralives
Death by exhaustion occurs when a Para is severely sleep-deprived. This happens when their energy bar reaches the lowest point and stays there for an extended period of time. If they go too long without sleeping, they’ll eventually perish, and you’ll get a pop-up letting you know they died from lack of sleep.
Death by fire in Paralives
Fire is quite dangerous and deadly in Paralives, so it’s easy for Paras to become the untimely victims of death by fire by ending up caught in one. Fires can start in a variety of different ways, including cooking gone wrong and fireplaces left on too long near flammable objects.
When a fire has started, your Para may end up being caught in it, resulting in them possibly dying. Paras will autonomously try to fight the fire, though, so you’ll generally want to turn autonomy off if you’re hoping to experience this type of death.
Death by old age in Paralives
Death by old age is the only type that happens naturally. Upon becoming an elder, which is the final life stage, your Para will eventually die, unless you edit your Storyteller settings to halt aging altogether. You can click on your Paras profile and hover over their life statue bar near the top of this tab to see how many days they have left before they’ll pass away from old age.
Death by mushroom poisoning in Paralives
Death by mushroom poisoning occurs when a Para eats a specific type of mushroom, gets mushroom poisoning, and doesn’t treat it in time. I’ve had my Paras eat all kinds of mushrooms, but the only one that has caused this ailment is the Fly Agaric mushroom, so this is the one to watch out for.
To experience this type of death, find the Fly Agaric mushroom out in the town of Melino. This mushroom is bright red, so it’s usually fairly easy to spot among the green grass. Then, click on this mushroom and choose the “Eat (at your own risk)” option. Your Para will then get sick with the mushroom poisoning effect. If you eat another one, they’ll instantly die.
How to kill a Para in Paralives
In most life-threatening circumstances, Paras will autonomously try to make life-saving decisions, which means killing them off can be tricky. Overall, the most effective way to intentionally kill a Para is poisonous mushrooms, as you can force them to consume two in a row to instantly die. Otherwise, you should turn off autonomy and try out other options like fire or starvation, as they’ll try to fix these issues if autonomy is on.
You can also use cheats to make this process easier if you’re struggling. Fire cheats like SETSELECTEDCHARACTERSONFIRE work quite well for triggering death, as do need cheats like DECAYNEED.
