Alfredo Morelos signing a new deal quickly at Rangers would bring calm to plenty in light blue, according to Alan Hutton.
Ibrox manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has confirmed that talks are underway to extend Morelos' stay as he heads into his sixth year in Govan. Rangers have already lost Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey this summer and Ryan Kent is in the same boat as his Colombian teammate, with less than a year to run on his deal. Former player and right-back Hutton reckons with Antonio Colak signed, it provides depth.
Hutton told Football Insider: It just puts everybody’s mind at ease. The fans, the player, the club. If he signs a long-term contract you know he’s there for the foreseeable future. They’ve obviously brought in Colak, he’s obviously a different type of player to Morelos but we’ve seen the problems Rangers had last season when Alfredo was injured, [Kemar] Roofe was injured.

"They really struggled. “They had to play [Joe] Aribo, [Fashion] Sakala, the likes of these players through the middle, didn’t work always, did on occasion but they needed that strength and depth.
“So if Morelos does sign I believe they’ll have that this season.“
The Premiership season starts this Saturday at lunchtime for Rangers as they take on Livingston in West Lothian.
