Aldi have submitted new plans for a Broomhouse store, which could open by late 2025.
The new development could create up to 35 jobs within the store, with additional employment during construction and within the supply chain. The proposed outlet at Boghall Road in Broomhouse will also include 95 parking spots, as well as four electric vehicle spaces.
Plans were submitted to Glasgow City Council after extensive consultations and discussions with the local community. Aldi wrote to around 2,300 residents across the area to inform them of proposals and held online groups over the last few months.

Members of the public were asked to view the proposals, ask questions and provide feedback for the discount retailer.
An Aldi spokesperson said: “We are pleased to be bringing forward our proposals for a new store in Broomhouse.
“Our engagement with the local community has shown there is strong demand for a discount food store in Broomhouse and the surrounding area, with 90% of respondents writing to confirm their support for our proposals.
“An Aldi store would greatly benefit the area, bringing significant investment along with new jobs, whilst supporting other local businesses through the investment in the Scottish food and drink sector.
“We are looking forward to continuing our engagement with the local community over the coming weeks.”
Baillieston Councillor Kevin Lalley pointed out the proposed construction site has been plagued with fly tipping and is “unsightly.”
The Labour politician said: “I want to encourage people to use the consultation process. Once this consultation period is live I will be speaking to Glasgow City Council planning department to ensure that Broomhouse and other surrounding areas of Baillieston can benefit should this build be allowed.”
A consultation website and Facebook group have been created, and will remain open until the planning process is concluded.
