A popular item sold in Aldi stores across Ireland in recent weeks has been urgently recalled amid fire fears.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has issued an alert about the ‘Kirkton House Pumpkin Wax Melt Burner’.
It says more than 3,200 of the Halloween decorations have been bought in Aldi shops across Ireland in recent weeks.
There are fears it poses a fire hazard.
A spokesperson explained: “The risk associated with the product is that it poses a fire hazard. The use of certain lit candles in the product leads to flames exiting the front opening of the burner, igniting the over-heated molten wax.”
The affected products were manufactured this year and were for sale recently in the lead-up to Halloween.
The brand is Kirkton House. The type/number of model is Pumpkin Variant. The barcode is 4088600518978.
Customers should stop using the product and return it to their nearest Aldi store in Ireland for a full refund.
Anyone who purchased one can also contact Aldi’s customer service team on 1800 991 828.
