Supermarket giants Aldi, Sainsbury's and Lidl have all slashed the price of popular meal staples to 19p each in the run-up to Christmas. Aldi was first to announce the 19p deal, and now Sainsbury's and Lidl have both followed suit.
Each year the UK's biggest supermarkets battle it out to offer the cheapest veg. And this year is no exception.
Lidl has reduced the price of its British Carrots (1kg), British Parsnips (500g) British Mini Roasts (1.5kg), British Swede and the all-important British Brussels Sprouts (500g) to 19p. Ryan McDonnell, Chief Executive Officer at Lidl GB, said: “This year, like always, we want to help shoppers enjoy the highest quality products for the best value.

"We know everyone wants to enjoy a special Christmas meal together, which is why we’re offering Christmas roast dinner for less than £2.75 per head. As we look ahead to next year, we remain committed to offering the best value to customers up and down the country."
From Sunday December 18 until Saturday December 24, Aldi shoppers will also benefit from the Super 6 Deals price cuts. Included in the deal is 1kg of carrots, 2kg of white potatoes and a 500g bag of parsnips.
Also available as part of the offer will be Aldi’s red and white cabbages, brussels sprouts sold in 500g packs, and Swedes. All of the vegetables will sell for 19p each in the week leading up to Christmas.
Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK, said: “At Aldi we believe that access to fresh, high-quality food is a right, not a privilege – and Christmas dinner is no exception. Christmas is an expensive time for many families up and down the UK, but customers can rest assured that Aldi will always offer the very best value groceries.”
Sainsbury's will also be slashing the price of Christmas veg to 19p for deliveries between December 20 until December 24. The veg prices will also be available in store from Sunday 18th December. Included in the deal will be items like a 1kg bag of carrots, 500g of parsnips and 2.5kg bags of white potatoes for 19p, and more. A Sainsbury's spokesperson confirmed that further veg lines will be included.
Tesco, ASDA and Morrisons are expected to follow suit as they did in previous years.
