ALDI is now the third biggest supermarket in Scotland by number of units sold.
The discount retailer’s volume share of the grocery market has increased to 11%, according to new data.
Aldi Scotland now commands a higher volume market share than Co-op (7.2%), Sainsbury’s (7.6%), Lidl (8.9%) and Morrisons (8.8%) in Scotland, and behind only Asda (13.8%) and Tesco (24%).
The data, which is collected by research body Kantar, looked at volume market share over a 12-week period until May 14.
Graham Nicolson, group buying director at Aldi Scotland, said: “This is a momentous moment for Aldi in Scotland, as we continue to build our presence within the Scottish market.
“We are committed to offering our customers top quality products at affordable prices and as the data shows people are switching to shopping with Aldi in their droves.

Nicolson further encouraged shopped to visit their stall at the Royal Highland Show.
He said: “The Royal Highland Show is something we look forward to every year and I am grateful to our network of suppliers who are supporting us at this year’s event. I encourage everyone attending the show to visit our marquee and try our Scottish range for themselves; I guarantee they won’t be disappointed.”
This year’s Royal Highland Show runs from Thursday June 22 to Sunday June 25.
