Adama Traore transfer latest as talks continue between Tottenham and Wolves

Tottenham Hotspur are yet to make their move for Wolves winger Adama Traore as talks continue into the final six days of the January transfer window.

The expected move for Traore is understood to be being driven mainly by Spurs' managing director of football Fabio Paratici, who has tracked the 26-year-old Spaniard for a couple of years and made a big offer to try to sign him during his Juventus days.

Paratici believes that not only can the powerful speedster provide another attacking threat but he can also be converted into a wing-back by Antonio Conte, who is open to the idea of the £20m wide man's arrival.

While there is a confidence that a move will happen before Monday's deadline, there have been differing noises coming out of all three parties involved about the stage the deal is at.

The word from those within Wolves is that they had previously rejected a £15m bid from Tottenham for Traore but there is an expectation that an agreement would be found.

The north London club however are believed to be surprised at suggestions of a failed bid with claims that one is yet to be made amid the talks that have taken place.

Those around the player, who is keen on the switch, suggest that the deal is close and it's only a matter of time.

Other reports have claimed that Spurs are preparing a £20m bid but Wolves are holding out for £30m, but it is believed that £20m will be enough to seal the transfer.

Tottenham have been looking into the possibility of taking Traore on loan with a fee with a view to making his move permanent at the end of the loan period.

Spurs fans are growing frustrated at what they see as the club's usual tactic of waiting until the last possible moment of transfer windows to eek out the best possible deal rather than get the player in beforehand.

Paratici is also looking to move a number of players out of the club before the deadline in order to help finance other moves.

football.london understands Giovani Lo Celso is wanted by Sevilla, while Tanguy Ndombele is attracting attention from PSG and Dele Alli has admirers at Everton.

Spurs have also looked at the possibility of moves for defenders Joe Rodon, Japhet Tanganga and Matt Doherty in the remaining time left.

The Tottenham squad have been given time off by Conte this week after the head coach promised them a break if they could win their match at Leicester in midweek, which they duly did before losing their first Premier League game under the Italian on Sunday at Chelsea.
