Suranne Jones has revealed she was forced to give up driving due to health issues. The 43-year-old actress shot to stardom in 2000 as Karen Mcdonald in ITV's Coronation Street.
Four years later, Suranne quit Weatherfield and has since forged a diverse acting career. Most recently she has won plaudits for her role as LGBTQ+ icon, Anne Lister, in the critically acclaimed historical drama Gentleman Jack.
The BBC series returned to our screens last month but her acting CV also includes Doctor Foster, Vigil, Scott and Bailey, and Unforgiven.

Away from our television screens the Mancunian actress recently shared how she has suffered from ongoing panic attacks. She said even leaving the house left her feeling as though everyone was staring at her.
BirminghamLive reported, it became so bad she made the decision to stop driving as she began having panic attacks at the wheel. She told the Thanks a Million podcast: “I had what I call an ‘emotional breakdown’ where I couldn’t go out without being very aware of everybody staring at me.
“I couldn’t drive the car because I was having panic attacks and then I went to see the doctor. I went on medication and I went into a beautiful care area of my life. Now I genuinely feel like I’ve moved through it and past it.”
Suranne has been open about her use of medication since the loss of both parents. Paying tribute to the pair last year, Suranne shared a throwback snap of herself with her dad on a Cornwall beach.
"Happy birthday mum," she said. The former ITV Coronation Street star and BBC Vigil favourite added: "forever on a beach in Cornwall with dad. mum passed away 4 and a half years ago and my father sadly passed away this January after fighting Covid and the affect it had on his body.
"We are still coming to terms with it all but I know they are together and today I want to celebrate them both. My thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones. Today and always."
