Aaron Ramsdale corrects Man City title narrative as Arsenal prepare for Southampton clash

Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale has hit out at claims that Manchester City are having an "off season" in the race for the Premier League title this season. The Gunners are currently battling it out with the Cityzens at the top of the Premier League, with a handful of games remaining.

The north London outfit hold a four point lead, however they have played one game extra at this stage of the campaign and have a huge head-to-head with Man City next week. Despite that, Mikel Arteta is fully focused on ensuring his team return to winning ways against Southampton on Friday night.

It’s not always going to be a linear progression. You have to know that and you have to be prepared for that. The way the team reacted was incredibly positive and we want to see that tomorrow night when we get onto that field."

When asked about the title race on Sky Sports, he replied: "It's been amazing, the enjoyment we've given to people so far this season, the way we've played, the games we've been involved in and where we are as a team in front of this Man City team, who are still one of the best teams in the world. Contrary to what people have said about they've had an off season.

"If we weren't there this season, then they'd be top by five or six points, so we have a huge credit to ourselves. But yeah, it's in our hands..."
