A 63-year-old woman on dialysis arrived at a Singapore emergency department with a fever and vomiting. A CT scan looking for the source of her infection found something nobody expected: a 1.1 cm object in her stomach reading about 7,000 Hounsfield units, dense enough that radiology flagged it as a swallowed piece of metal. A surgeon was called in to retrieve it. Then someone asked what she had taken that morning. The case was published in BMC Nephrology in April 2026.
