The government's levelling up plans have been slammed as devoid of "new ideas".
Ministers said the missions include “improving wellbeing in every area” of the UK, a devolution deal for every part of England that wants one, and bringing public transport connectivity across the country “significantly closer to the standards of London”.
Levelling-Up Secretary Michael Gove also raised the prospect of the House of Lords moving out of London. “I think it’d be a really good thing if the House of Lords were to meet for at least part of the time in Glasgow or in York,” he told Times Radio.
