A used car can look like a bargain right up until the first insurance bill, repair estimate or financing statement arrives. The sticker price might sit comfortably below the price of a new vehicle, but the real cost can climb quickly when mileage, condition, loan terms and ownership expenses enter the picture.
That does not mean used cars always offer the better deal. Value depends on the specific model, its condition, mileage, financing, warranty coverage and regional demand. A carefully chosen used vehicle can make excellent financial sense, while another can turn a seemingly clever purchase into a four-wheeled money vacuum with cupholders.
