Hulu is not just one of the best streaming services; it's one of the best for watching new movies. Sure, it regularly adds classics to its library, but it's the new releases from a combination of Disney-owned studios and indie studios that make Hulu the perfect place to start building your next movie marathon.

This weekend is no exception, and I can easily recommend three new to Hulu movies for you to watch this weekend without needing to look further in the past than 2025. There's a pair of foreign indie films coming on March 1 that are worth a watch right away, particularly "The Secret Agent," which is up for multiple Oscars, including Best Picture. Don't sleep on "It Was Just an Accident," though. It won the Palme d'Or at Cannes last year and is certainly a must-watch. If you need something a little more mainstream, there's "Rental Family," which was added to the platform recently and stars Brendan Fraser as a struggling actor taking gigs as a "token white guy" in Japan.

So let's dive in. Here are the three new to Hulu movies you need to stream this weekend. For more recommendations, check out the full list of everything new to Hulu in March 2026.

'It Was Just an Accident' (2025)

Genre: Iranian thriller

What's it about? When a freak car accident brings a man into an auto shop, a group of former Iranian political prisoners realizes he may be their tormentor from prison. Now, they have to decide if they're sure, and if they are, what to do with him.

Why you should watch it: A shocking Best Picture Oscars snub, this movie is acclaimed by most who have seen it. It won the Palme d'Or at Cannes, was nominated for multiple Golden Globes and is currently up for a pair of Academy Awards. The story of making it is also worth honoring with a watch; it's written and directed by Jafar Panahi, a former political prisoner who made the film without the consent of the Iranian government.

'The Secret Agent' (2025)

Genre: Brazilian political thriller

What's it about? "The Secret Agent" centers around Armando (Wagner Moura). A former professor, he's a dissident against the Brazilian military dictatorship and caught up in the political upheaval gripping the country. Now, he has to try and stay one step ahead of persecution from the government, even if it means he ultimately needs to flee his home.

Why you need to watch it: If you're someone who craves watching every Oscar-worthy movie, then this one is a must-watch. It's racked up numerous awards en route to this year's Oscars, where it's nominated for several, including Best Picture and Best International Feature Film. Moura is also bringing home plenty of hardware, including a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama. He's now a serious contender to take home Best Actor at the Oscars, and his performance should not be missed.

'Rental Family' (2025)

Genre: Comedy-drama

What's it about? Brendan Fraser stars in "Rental Family" as American actor Phillip Vanderploeg. Despite one successful ad, he's struggling to find work in Japan until he finds work with a rental family agency. As the company's "token white guy," he's hired by strangers to stand in as anyone from a fiancé to an estranged father.

Why you should watch it: While not quite so acclaimed as the previous two films on this list, "Rental Family" still scored plenty of praise and accolades, especially for Fraser's performance. A sensitive comedy-drama with depth is the perfect vehicle for his talents, and if you're looking for something a little less serious, this movie is a perfect note to end your movie marathon with, or stream on a lazy weekend day.
