22 royal Leicas up for auction

Twenty-two charitable foundations will hold an auction for 22 Royal Limited Edition Leica M10-P cameras from 7pm on Sept 30 as part of Sustainability Expo 2022 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.

The limited-edition camera campaign was the initiative of Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi, the CEO of ThaiBev, Thailand’s largest beverage company, who also served as a former president of the Thailand Photography Association.

He saw the campaign as a way of celebrating the Royal Coronation of King Vajiralongkorn.

Thirty gold-plated Leica cameras were produced with the King’s Royal Coronation emblem. There are two versions — 10 cameras in yellow crocodile leather (1.5 million baht) and 20 in green crocodile. Six were given to the Royal Family, two were stored in museums and 22 are up for auction today.
