Comic books have always been a mirror to real-world politics. From the moment Captain America punched Hitler in the face on the cover of Captain America Comics #1 in 1941, the medium began aligning itself with anti-fascist, pro-democracy messaging. Even the X-Men, who made their debut in 1963 as an all‑white team, were shaped by the Civil Rights Movement. 1975’s Giant‑Size X‑Men introduced one of the most diverse superhero teams ever during an era when most comic characters were still overwhelmingly white. Still, Right-wing comic characters have always existed; they were just not as prevalent.
