An Australian teenager detained in northeast Syria after living as a child under Islamic State (ISIS) rule has died in unclear circumstances, New York-based rights group Human Rights Watch said.

Advocates for women and children stuck in Syrian detention camps say they have grave concerns two young boys could be taken off their mothers and sent to an adult prison "any day".
