Rep. Tony Gonzales admitted to a sexual relationship with a staffer who died by suicide, hours after the House Ethics Committee launched an investigation. Gonzales stated he made a mistake and takes full responsibility, while also facing a runoff election after failing to secure a majority in the Texas primary.

Gonzales was accused for months of having an inappropriate relationship with Regina Santos-Aviles, a 35-year-old wife and mother who worked in his Uvalde office

Rep. Nancy Mace's measure aimed at documents related to sexual harassment allegations investigated by the House Ethics Committee. 

The committee will determine whether Gonzales “engaged in sexual misconduct towards an individual employed in his congressional office.”
