Life is not easy for the Bruins these days. Whether their Secretariat-in-the-Belmont lead over the NHL field is dulling their edges or free-and-easy, lesser teams are looking for a nice notch on their belt, the B’s have looked quite pedestrian over the last week.

Both teams have since doubled down on their respective strategies, with the Hawks continuing to convert all valuable players into draft picks and the Lightning continuing to do the opposite. And Hagel has fully lived up to expectations in Tampa while Taylor Raddysh has flourished a bit in Chicago.

Kane aggravated a lower-body injury he suffered Sunday and Tyler Johnson came down sick, leaving the Hawks with just 10 forwards available for the third period of their 4-1 defeat Tuesday.

Impatience caused Raddysh to drift too wide and too low in the defensive zone before the Hurricanes’ first goal Tuesday. But the Hawks addressed it immediately at the first intermission — a level of thoroughness that they hope prevents repeat mistakes.
