It's been an uphill climb for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) recently, but Sunday at Darlington was a bright spot for both the No. 4 and No. 14 teams.

In the closest finish in the history of the NASCAR Cup Series, Kyle Larson defeated Chris Buescher to win at Kansas Speedway. Just 0.001s separated the two drivers, capping off a fantastic race at the 1.5-mile oval.

Elliott grabbed the lead for the time on a restart with eight of the scheduled 267 laps remaining, after Ricky Stenhouse Jr. wrecked off Turn 2 to bring out the 12th caution of the race, and fended off Denny Hamlin on a restart with two laps to go.

Hendrick Motorsports celebrated its 40th anniversary in style at Martinsville Speedway, becoming the first team in history to score a 1-2-3 finish at the iconic short track. William Byron collected his series-leading third win of the year, beating Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott to the checkered flag.

Martin Truex Jr. dominated the Cup race at Richmond, but a late-caution forced the event into overtime and completely changed the outcome. Truex's Joe Gibbs Racing team-mate Denny Hamlin won the race off pitroad, and then held on in the two-lap dash to the checkered flag.

William Byron earned pole position, led the most laps, and became the first repeat winner of the 2024 season with his victory last weekend at COTA. 

In a wild Bristol race featuring extreme tire wear, Joe Gibbs Racing prevailed with Denny Hamlin taking victory over Martin Truex Jr. as they battled through slower traffic. Another veteran, Brad Keselowski, finished third.

The 33-year-old native of Hendersonville, Tenn., stepped in Stewart-Haas Racing’s No. 4 Ford this year following the retirement of star Kevin Harvick and his subsequent move to the Fox Sports NASCAR TV booth.

At Phoenix, Toyota drivers absolutely dominated, leading all but 14 laps with Christopher Bell ultimately taking the checkered flag.
