Labour MSP Katy Clark says proposed cuts will have a damaging effect on public safety, accessibility, staffing recruitment and passenger growth.

Scotrail has launched a three-week consultation on plans to reduce opening hours at seven stations, something councillors warned will make them less safe for the public.

Members unanimously agreed that chief executive Joyce White should write to her counterpart at Scotrail, and to Minister for Transport Jenny Gilruth, to formally reaffirm WDC's opposition to the ticket office and opening hours reductions.

ScotRail warned passengers that 'blanket' restrictions will be put in place as gusts of up to 90mph could hit parts of the country.

Winds of up to 80mph are expected

The latest rise, which came into effect on Monday, is the highest in a decade- with peak prices rocketing by 38 per cent since the start of 2012.
